A Light in the Dark Mini
This sunflower painting is part of a six painting series I created as a tribute to my late friend Cory who left this world back in 2017. He really was a light in this world even though he was battling his own darkness. Before he departed, he had secretly sprinkled some sunflower seeds in his parents yard and they did not appear until after his death. So the sunflower became the symbol of the light he left behind. After completing this series I came across the “Sunflower Theory” (I had never heard about this before), which states, when you give someone a sunflower, you should give them two because when the sun is shining bright, the sunflowers face the light, but when night comes they face each other, finding light in one another. So when you give someone sunflowers, you are basically saying, “You are my light in the dark”.
Original Painting: 4”x4” Acrylic on canvas
